The Opening Xbox Game Pass Games of 2026 Show Xbox Is Still Fighting.

Everywhere you go, commentators persist in tolling the death bells for the green team. Microsoft's console just got outsold by a relatively obscure console. Dedicated Xbox communities have started writing on PS5 topics unprecedentedly. The past year represented an era of significant turmoil for the tech giant's gaming arm. However, judging purely by the upcoming Game Pass lineup in 2026, it's evident that the green gaming company remains determined to engage players with strong games on its premier subscription.

The Current Inclusions

The duo of games currently accessible as you read this, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, don't represent the biggest draws. The true anticipation is for the upcoming titles to Game Pass soon that's worth getting excited about.

Upcoming Headline Games

Come mid-January, the platform will add the often-overlooked Star Wars Outlaws, a sprawling adventure that refreshes the standard Ubisoft formula with a cosmic robbery tale. A further major acquisition is Resident Evil Village featuring the towering Lady Dimitrescu, which our 2021 review called "a superb mixture of horror and action."

Compelling Indie Titles

However, the more modest titles arriving shortly on the service are quite compelling. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, the criminally overlooked roguelike that is incredibly fun, arrives January 7th — and it's worth experiencing whether or not you experienced the first Lost in Random game.

The British post-apocalyptic game from last year may draw you in in about 15 minutes flat.

Atomfall, a survival title with stealth elements by the makers of Sniper Elite, also warrants your attention. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to get excited about.

A Well-Rounded Collection

All in all, these titles aren't industry-shaking releases to Game Pass, and they don't represent tentpole Microsoft studios games that are the sole reason for the service alone. However, this batch of games are rock solid. The lineup provides a solid mix of past releases that passed you by and relatively recent releases that didn't get the attention they were due initially — which makes them perfect candidates to find a new audience on Game Pass.

You might need to brace yourself to say goodbye to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, though.
