Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
